Overview

In this course, we will go over the design and technical pipeline in producing a realistic CG creature. This is a CG Generalist approach, where a single artist is expected to take a creature asset from the design sculpt to final render.

What will this course cover?

In this course we will cover the design sculpt based on a given brief, retopology and creating clean production model, UVs, sculpting secondary and tertiary forms, texturing, look development, rendering and post production.

We will use multiple 3D software to create our creature starting with the design sculpt in ZBrush, then the clean model and UVs in Maya, the textures in Substance Painter, and the rendering and look development in Arnold and Photoshop.

Learning Outcomes

After completing this course you will have the knowledge to create realistic CG creatures for film, television, game cinematic, commercials, and more. You will know how to extract the useful information from a given brief, quickly iterate and create multiple design block outs, refine the design sculpt, create clean production-ready model, paint textures and masks for look development, add lights and materials to create the final render and use post production techniques to finalize your project.

This course is aimed at intermediate artists. We won’t be going over the fundamentals or software basics.
