Overview
Cultural & Creative Industries Skillnet are delighted to present this practical, industry-informed workshop designed to upskill animators in the real-world use of Toon Boom Harmony, the industry-standard software used across 2D TV productions in Ireland and internationally.
Developed by CMAI in consultation with leading Irish studios, the course bridges the gap between third-level education and the expectations of a professional animation pipeline. Over the two weeks, participants will work through a series of guided classes and assignments, developing production-ready scenes with feedback from expert tutors currently working in the field.

- Posing for animation
- Breakdowns: arcs and timing
- Polishing animation to studio-ready standard

Participant profile
This course is ideal for recent graduates and early-career animators looking to gain confidence in Toon Boom Harmony and studio workflows. Participants must have a strong animation showreel and be resident in Ireland.
Tutor

Kyla Tomlinson
Kyla is a Scottish animator and creative based in Dublin with over 20 years of experience in 2D character animation across multiple studios. Known for her ability to capture character quickly and clearly, she has worked extensively in both production and training roles.
In recent years, Kyla has focused on mentoring early-career animators through in-studio training at Boulder Media and guest lecturing at universities across Ireland and Scotland. Her teaching style is approachable, engaging, and rooted in industry practice — with experience spanning assistant tutoring, workshop facilitation, and higher education.
