Lunch + Learn: An Online Introduction to Python Coding

CCIS and Culture Works are delighted to present An Online Introduction to Python Coding.

Want to learn the basics of Python? In this short online workshop (1hr) , you’ll be introduced to the basics of Python coding while making a simple text-based adventure game.

Together we’ll explore the following:

– some reasons for learning Python. 

– how to write your first line of Python code 

– how to write a Python programme

– learn about some common errors that occur, how to avoid them, and how to fix them!

This workshop is suitable for anyone either new to programming or with some creative programming experience who wish to understand Python and progress to writing their own Python programmes.

*No prior experience in coding is necessary*

PLEASE NOTE: This workshop is being presented as part of The Creative Trainer; a trainer development programme. Participants will be asked to complete a short survey after the Lunch + Learn to offer constructive feedback to the training facilitator.

About Vicky Twomey-Lee:

Vicky Twomey-Lee is a techie, and works as a volunteer advocating diversity in tech through running events, workshops, curating information to share with the community and speaking engagements. 

She is very involved in the Irish Tech Community since running her first technical meetup in 2005, which also is around the time she fell in love with Python and its community both locally and internationally right up to this day. She ran the Python Ireland meetups for 11 years and chaired the first four PyCon Irelands. She has since founded PyLadies Dublin in 2013. Coding Grace was co-founded as a way to advocate diversity in tech to connect the community, and share and teach about other technologies. She also runs game-making events through GameCraft.
