Overview

Stress and mental health risk assessments are required by law and are increasingly a key part of any managers ‘best practice’ toolkit to protect workers and prevent psychological stress or injury. This session provides participants with a comprehensive overview of stress and mental health risk assessment and an in-depth, practical guide to creating mental health risk assessments for any production.

What will this course cover?

Participants will come away from this session with a wide knowledge of stress and mental health risk factors and the ‘know how’ to complete a stress and mental health risk assessment, including:

  • An overview of generic risk assessments
  • The aims of stress and mental health risk assessments
  • The 5 management controls
  • Unique factors for Film and TV
  • Creating a stress and mental health risk assessment in practice

Anyone working in the Film & TV industry that is responsible for the wellbeing of the workers, including cast, crew, contributors etc.

Tutor information

Matt Longley is an accredited i-act instructor and has adapted the course specifically for the Film and TV industry. He regularly delivers i-act to HODs and crew training them to manage and promote positive mental health and wellbeing at work. Matt worked in equipment hire for many years supplying both film productions and music events across the UK. He has worked on some of the largest film productions including Harry Potter, Batman: The Dark Knight Rises and War Horse.

Matt is a consultant and trainer for organisations including the Film and TV Charity, BECTU, BFI, Digital Orchard, Raw TV and several businesses at Pinewood Studios. He sits on the Film and TV Charity’s working group to develop a mental health training framework and contributed to their Mentally Healthy Productions Toolkit.

Matt has trialed the role of Wellbeing Facilitator across multiple productions working with the BFI, Bectu, Disney, Pulse Films and Love Productions. He is also a trustee of the Men’s Health Forum that supports underprivileged men and boys with their health. Matt is a keen amateur home musician who enjoys live music of all genres.

Matt is a Co-Director and Welfare Producer for the UK charity 6ft From The Spotlight. The charity is focused on promoting mental health and wellbeing within the Film, TV, Theatre, and Touring Music sectors. Their mission is to create positive working cultures by providing specialized training, on-set support, and consultancy services

Course fee €50 per person. (Normally this workshop would cost €90 per person without CCIS support)
