Overview
This training programme, run in partnership with Screen Ireland, and in collaboration with TVM Outside Broadcast Facilities, is a fantastic opportunity for aspiring directors to gain hands-on experience in both studio and outside broadcast (OB) environments. By covering industry-standard practices and technical setups, participants will develop essential skills in editorial decision-making, planning, communication, and teamwork.

What will this course cover?
- Multi-Camera Studio Directing:
- Class Work and Studio Sessions: Participants will learn how a gallery and studio floor operate.
- Practical Skills: Creating floor plans, camera scripting, and running orders.
- Directing Experience: Bringing ideas to life by directing a fully crewed gallery and floor.
- Outside Broadcast (OB) Directing:
- On-Location Learning: Understanding the differences between studio and OB setups.
- Live OB Workings: Developing directing and vision mixing skills in a live environment.
Participant profile/Who can apply/Eligibility
Applicants must have a minimum of three years hands on experience working in a studio or OB environment who wish to move into the role of Director. This course might appeal to people, with relevant experience, returning to the workforce.

Tutor information
Sinead is a seasoned broadcast professional with over 20 years experience directing a variety of live studio programmes and large scale multi camera Outside Broadcasts. Her directing credits include the All Ireland Finals, Six Nations Rugby, Soccer, Athletics, Cricket and also State occasions such as Presidential Inaugurations, State Visits and ceremonial events. She worked in RTE for 25 years before leaving this year and is currently working as a freelance director in both Ireland and Europe

Costs/fee
Course fee €500 per person. (Without the support of Screen Ireland, the National Talent Academies – Crew Academy South and Cultural and Creative Industries Skillnet, this course would cost €2,250 per person)
Deadline for course applications
12noon on Monday 6th January 2024. Due to the tight turnaround, suitably qualified applicants will be awarded a place on a first come basis. Therefore, we may stop accepting applications before the deadline date.
