Overview
This programme is run in partnership with Creative Heartlands and The Glens Arts Centre. Building on the success of last year’s SLR Producers Course, this new programme is designed to deepen practical knowledge and expand professional capabilities in film and TV production across the Sligo, Leitrim, and Roscommon region.
Led by industry experts including Edwina Forkin, Eileen Rafferty, Jerry Twomey, Rory McPartland, Dina Coughlan, Paddy Hayes and Anna Mannion the course offers invaluable insights into best practices, production management tools, and funding strategies. Course start date is 18th October and will conclude in February 2026.
What will this course cover?
Participants will gain practical experience with key production software and real-world case studies, covering topics such as:
- Budgeting, Scheduling, Cash-flow & Cost Reporting
- Contracts & Legal Frameworks for Filmmaking
- Co-Development & Co-Production Agreements
- Preparing Section 481 Applications
- Music Clearance & Supervision
- Case Studies of Recent Productions

Emerging producers in the region who want to explore new tools and funding mechanisms. Emerging entrepreneurs looking to re-skill and transition into the film and TV industry.
Applicants must be based in Sligo, Leitrim, Roscommon or neighbouring counties.

Tutor information

Johnny Gogan is the director and producer of ten feature films including the current Netflix titles Black Ice (drama) and Hubert Butler Witness to the Future (doc). He has run Bandit Films in Leitrim for the past thirty years where he also runs the Adaptation Film Festival, now in its twelfth year. He currently heads the film aspect of Creative Heartlands, a project dedicated to building the film and design industries in the north-west counties of Leitrim, Sligo and Roscommon
