Overview

Exploring practical and ethical approaches to the safeguarding of crew, cast and contributors. Participants will learn practical tools and frameworks in relation to topics like duty of care, confidentiality, safeguarding and sign posting. Additionally, there will be an emphasis on the skills required to navigate safeguarding conversations and maintain healthy boundaries.

What will this course cover?

By the end of this workshop participants should be able to:

  • Understand the scope of duty of care
  • Gain an overview of confidentiality requirements
  • Apply knowledge of an easy to use safeguarding framework
  • Signpost to relevant experts and organisations
  • Prepare for and navigate a sensitive conversation
  • Develop healthy and ethical boundaries

Participant profile/Who can apply/Eligibility

Anyone working in the Film & TV industry that is responsible for the wellbeing of the workers, including cast, crew, contributors etc.

Tutor information

Michelle White holds an MSc in Applied Positive Psychology and Coaching Psychology and works with individuals and organisations to develop the meaningful, resilient and healthy approaches which underpin creative, happy and sustainable working environments.

She has over 18 years’ experience of leading teams within the film events and exhibition sector for organisations, such as the BFI, the London Film Festival and DDA Live. Michelle is also an invited Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts, for her work developing young emerging talent within the film industry. Michelle contributed to the development of the BAFTA/BFI anti-bullying principles within the screen industries and the Film and TV Charities Mentally Healthy Productions Toolkit. She works regularly with organisations like BECTU, The Film and TV Charity, Screen Skills, BAFTA, Google, NEO Leaders and INSEAD Business School. She is a member of the British Psychological Society and is an accredited Mindfulness Teacher and Strengths Coaching Practitioner.

Away from work, she loves films, reading, podcasts, animals, cups of tea, warm blankets, hiking, nature, sunny beaches, ghost stories, brunch and running.

Michelle is a Co-Director, Psychologist, and Coach for the charity 6ft From The Spotlight. The charity is focused on promoting mental health and wellbeing within the Film, TV, Theatre, and Touring Music sectors. Their mission is to create positive working cultures by providing specialized training, on-set support, and consultancy services

Course fee €50 per person. (Normally this workshop would cost €90 per person without CCIS support)
