Overview

Cultural & Creative Industries Skillnet and Animation Ireland with the support of Coimisiún na Meán are delighted to host these monthly lunch and learn across 2024.

This series of lunchtime workshops will be held online, once every month from May to November at 1pm. Dates for each session will be announced the month before and there is no obligation to attend all the sessions.

Please note that each workshop is eligible for 1 Law Society CPD Point, with the potential of 6 points for those who attend all workshops.

What will this course cover?

The next session will look broadly at Music for Film and TV.

Music is an essential and inherent part of any production. However, from a legal perspective, there are many things to consider when deciding on what route to take to ensure the music you use is properly cleared before your project is released.

In this session we will examine:

  • Music rights
  • Music licensing and recording
  • Original compositions
  • Commercially released music

These workshops will be developed and delivered by legal experts and will be relevant to almost everyone engaged in animation. The focus will be on the following themes:

  • 1. Intellectual Property Law – May 30th
  • 2. Section 481 – June 26th
  • 3. International Co-production Considerations – July 24th
  • 4. Funding Agencies – August 29th
  • 5. Production Legal – October 3rd
  • 6. Music for Film and TV – Wednesday, November 13th at 1pm

It should be noted that these workshops are educational in nature and not to be considered legal advice specific to your circumstances. If you need assistance you should always consult independent legal advice.

Participant profile

This series of lunchtime workshops will support and suit creatives, producers, management and administrative personnel to understand how the law and animation interacts.
