PORT 1000: Screen Industry Portfolio Preparation
Level 6 | 5 ECTS credits


A collaboration between Cultural & Creative Industry Skillnet, Screen Ireland and TU Dublin, this programme is offered to creative professionals at a special CCIS partnership rate of €100 (normally the fee for this course would be €530 in 2025).

Overview

“Recognition of prior experiential learning (RPEL), i.e. learning that has been achieved through paid work, through voluntary work, through life activities or through independent study, and which has not been formally assessed.”

This course provides scaffolded support for learners preparing a RPEL (Recognition of Prior Experience & Learning) portfolio, specific to the needs of learners working in the screen industries. The module supports learners to develop a personal statement backed up by a portfolio of evidence of the learning they have achieved as part of their work in the screen industries.

Aims & Objectives

Introducing Recognition of Prior Experiential Learning

  • An introduction to the concept, case studies and examples
  • Frameworks for demonstrating learning
  • An introduction to Bloom’s taxonomy (and other learning frameworks) and the
    competency frameworks used in the screen industries
  • Key skills for developing a porcolio of evidence
  • Identifying, selecting, evaluating, and documenting examples of prior learning in the
    workplace.
  • Key elements of a personal statement
  • Motivation, reflection, providing evidence of skills and willingness to learn
  • Key skills for writing a personal statement
  • Clarity, brevity, explicitness

Learning Outcomes

  • Describe requirements and components of a RPEL portfolio in TU Dublin
  • Identify significant workplace learning milestones in their career
  • Map own learning to relevant industry Competency Framework
  • Develop and write a personal statement
  • Articulate their own motivation for applying for further qualification
  • Write clearly and objectively about their own experience
  • Compile a portfolio of evidence of own prior learning
  • Select and present representative example from portfolio

Participant profile/Who can apply

TU Dublin Course Applicants must have a minimum of 7 years cumulative work experience in screen industries
as well as evidence of volume, depth and breath of experience, mapped onto the relevant competency framework (link available as part of the TU Dublin & Screen Ireland Application) or equivalent.

CCIS Membership Support

To qualify for Cultural & Creative Industries Skillnet membership support, applicants must be RESIDENT IN THE REPUBLIC OF IRELAND and not in receipt of a BURSARY, SCHOLARSHIP OR GRANT AID toward fees from another government agency or programme for this course.

Applicants may not be currently

  • CLAIMING UNEMPLOYMENT BENEFIT

  3. Complete the TU Dublin Course application link if you have not already applied.
    If your Course Application is successful you will be notified by TU Dublin and given access to a CCIS Registration/Payment Link.
