Overview
It is our great pleasure to welcome back Niall Laverty for this online version of his very popular course, which will show the importance of gesture drawing for animation and look at capturing the essence of the pose to create expressive drawings.
What will this course cover?
This course will show the importance of gesture drawing for animation and look at capturing the essence of the pose. Each session will look at drawing, graphic and animation principles to create expressive drawings through lectures, demos and critiques.

Tutor
Niall Laverty has been teaching gesture drawing to animation and graphic storytelling students and professionals for 20 years. He is an Assistant Lecturer on the 2D and 3D Animation programmes at IADT. He is also a guest lecturer at The Animation Workshop, Filmakademie and Gobelins, and teaches classes at the award-winning animation studios, Boulder Media and Brown Bag Films.
Niall is an illustrator and writer with At it Again! who bring Irish literature to life with their pocket guide books and literally gifts.
Participant profile
The course is designed for beginners and professionals of all skill levels looking to refresh or develop their gesture drawing.
Materials/equipment/software needed
Basic materials: paper, pencils, markers, charcoal. Participants will be notified of any other materials needed throughout the course.

Normally, the fee for this course would be €90 , but through Cultural & Creative Industries Skillnet we can offer this course at the subsidised member’s rate of €70.
