Overview

Multi-camera, Unscripted TV, especially High-end entertainment productions, have increased substantially in Ireland over the past few years. There are skills gaps in many crew roles including the essential role of Production Manager.  

Unscripted Production Managers are responsible for the day-to-day management of an unscripted production including, but not limited to, the logistics, budget, contracts, crewing, schedule, insurance, H&S & relevant post production paperwork.

What will this course cover?

This course will provide you with the knowledge and insight to understand the duties and responsibilities of a TV Production Manager in a multi camera studio environment.

The course will also include a set visit for the set-up day for a large entertainment series.

At the end of this course you will be able to:

Learning outcomes

  • Schedule a large scale entertainment series
  • Identify the elements a PM needs to put in place to set up a multi camera shoot on location or in a studio environment
  • Explain how to covert locations into a studio set up.
  • Explain the build & rig requirements.
  • Identify the additional budget lines that need to be included for high end entertainment shows.
  • Identify the relevant paperwork that needs to be in place before build commences – risk assessments from all suppliers, production risk assessments, company H&S statement, location contract, crew contracts etc.
  • Understand all relevant paperwork for each production
  • Identify the necessary skills required to manage a large production crew & all departments.

Participant profile/Who can apply/Eligibility

Participants must have a minimum of three years’ relevant experience in a Production Management, Coordination, Locations, Assistant Director, Events Management or a similar organizational role in other creative industries.

This course might also appeal to people, with relevant experience, returning to the workforce.

Tutor information

Sheila has over 25 years of experience working in a multi camera TV Production capacity. Having started out her career as a multi camera floor manager she subsequently has worked as a Production Manager, Line Producer, Head of Production and Executive Producer across a variety of genres from live entertainment and music programming, international formats to documentaries and lifestyle projects for multiple broadcasters and financiers.
